The publication "The Echo of Our Song" lists this chant on page 192 under the name "E `Ike Mai." It notes, among other things, how the chant is traditional in theme and structure and how it is taught to children throughout Hawai`i. Of interest in the footnotes: It was composed in the early 1930's by Mary Kawena Puku`i and her mother Pa`ana Wiggin while Mrs. Puku`i was teaching at Punahou School in Honolulu.
The publication "Nä Mele o Hawai`i Nei: 101 Hawaiian Songs" includes this chant on page 65. The authors of this book are Noelani Mähoe and Samuel Elbert, and it was published by the University of Hawai`i Press.
