Brief Biographical Summary:
Rhea Akoi has lived in Keaukaha since 1930. She began studying hula with Rose Kuamo`o as a young girl and performed with her during the 30's. She worked at HECO from 1946-1955 and taught music at Keaukaha School for 22 years, retiring in 1989. That same year, she published a book entitled "Ku`u Home I Keaukaha." She married Robert Akoi in 1948 and has five children and 17 grandchildren (as of 2001). She is active with Alu Like's Ke Ola Pono Kupuna Program.
