Kapolilaua`eomakana Yung comes from a family with a strong musical and hula background. Her mother, Rose Kuamo`o, was an extremely talented musician who could play all wind and string instruments, piano and organ, and taught voice and hula. Laua`e gained her hula foundation and love of Hawaiian music from her exceptional mother. Laua`e and her husband Wah Fook Yung have four children, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren (as of 2001). Living in Keaukaha since 1936, Laua`e continues to keep a busy performance schedule as a "kupuna" with Alu Like.
